The torture porn is a film combining graphic violence and and sexually suggestive imagery. The attraction and fear from this thriller sub-genre comes from physical destruction of the body and the pain accompanying it. What's interesting about the torture porn is that this kind of film thrives on a lack of plot and order.
HOSTEL
One of the most successful films under this sub-genre is Hostel.
In the movie 3 guys are in Amsterdam where they get locked out of their youth hostel. They are invited into a man's house where he tells them of a hostel somewhere where the women are all incredibly hot and have a taste for American men. When they get there, everything is too good to be true - the hostel is "to die for".
In Hostel, we can see that the main features of a Torture Porn are based on inflicting severe physical pain and injury to people that are physically restrained or otherwise under the torture's control and unable to defend against what is being done to them. What's more is that many of the people subject to the torture are sexually objectified as they are naked and therefore vulnerable.
In the film one of the guys is confused about his sexuality, though, and sympathetic to an old man who makes a pass at him. It's quite a shock when he then wakes to find himself in chains, with that same old man preparing to eviscerate him. He screams and pleads as he doesn't understand why he's in that place, and if you think about it, there is not really a plot, it is just to entertain the viewers by putting one self in a state of extreme pain.
